Matthijs Erkens
I am a second-year Automotive Engineering student at the Rotterdam University of Applied Science. Before that I obtained my pre-university education certificate where I studied subjects as Mathematics for scientific studies, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Research & Design. I am passionate about auto and motorsport and I get driven by competition to achieve the best results.
This website is created to give an impression of me as a person and the projects that I have completed and undertaken throughout my career.
Who am I
I am a second year automotive engineering student with an passion for autosport. I am creative, energetic and I love working in team environments where I can express my creativity and passion well. Currently I'm working with my team on a project where we have to develop and create a Eco-marathon vehicle and compete against other teams to see who has the most sustainable car.

Projects
These are some of the projects I have carried out in the past. They include projects I undertook during my current bachelor diploma course and projects I carried out at secondary school for the ‘Research and Design’ course.

Emergency Shelter
Designing and creating a Emergency Shelter for affected people during the Earthquake in Turkye in 2023

Bracket optimalisation
Second year project where I optimised the intercooler brackets of a Mini Cooper r53 S, using FEM analyses and investigated how this affects the vehicle's performance

Junior year Project
Junior year project where we researched the Venturi effect and influence on Rake attack on race-cars and what effect the degree of attack has on the pressure difference
